⚓ WHAT BEGINS AS A QUIET BIT OF SPYING… TURNS INTO A RACE AGAINST RIVALS. ⚓
━━━━━━━━━━ ☠️ ━━━━━━━━━━
With the town's strange meeting still ringing in their ears, the crew slips away from the tavern to follow three hooded figures straight to the mayor's door. Disguises, distractions, and a few bad ideas later, the stakeout turns into a brawl, and then into the most uneasy truce on the southern seas.
As two crews search the same house for the same secrets, the question isn't just what the mayor is hiding. It's who gets out with it first.

[00:00:00] The following is for mature audiences. Listener discretion is advised. See the description for details. Hey, you're listening to Tales of Yavon. Two D&D tables, one shared world. I'm Sarah, DM of the Pirate Table. And I'm Micah, DM of the Empire Table. This episode is with the Pirate Table. Let's meet the players.
[00:00:27] Welcome to Tales of Yavon. We are down in the southern seas for the Pirate Table. Where we last left off, you guys were in an unknown town, perusing through the local culture to try and figure out where you are, what's going on, and what your next steps ought to be. When you get a little intrigued by the current town meeting that is happening inside the tavern.
[00:00:57] Will has taken a post outside the tavern, right next to the door, so he can listen in and keep watch on the goings-on in the town square. His eyes have caught on a trio of colorful individuals, disappearing into the crowd, and then three hooded figures making a beeline for the mayor's house.
[00:01:22] Phelan is perched on a window seal, further down into the room, playing at being a pet bird, keeping a watch on everything. As her old man owner, the disguised tavern is sitting with the locals, having charmed the barkeep into being able to join a little incognito in on this. In on the festivities.
[00:01:51] The mayor has walked in. He is a very tall man, has to stoop to get inside. He has the silk shirt with the corduroy suit, a mishmash of odds and ends that present a rather odd figure, but he's still seemingly taking in the same colors as the rest of the town, with the brown being most overall. A huge bushy beard that seems to take over most of his face.
[00:02:20] And a kind of bedraggled top hat, a little frayed in places, that shadows his eyes. He is covered up from head to toe in this suit, nicest shoes, a long sleeve shirt with leather gloves, almost a little bit butler-esque in a fashion.
[00:02:43] As he takes the head seat at the table and opens the floor to complaints, first and foremost, because someone had complaints last time and those are always good to kind of get out of the way early on, or so he says. And that kind of opens the floodgates. As you guys sit here and hear, for however long you would like, a series of complaints from the townsfolk.
[00:03:13] One lady stands up and says, well, first of all, Gwendolyn's fence is way too high. She is not allowed to build her fence that high, and it is encroaching on my piece of land. My hydrangeas are without sun. And said woman seems to stand up and go, no, no, no. Okay. I am perfectly within parameters. It is totally fine. And they start swabbling.
[00:03:40] Another man stands up and says, the sailors aren't back yet. We don't have enough food. I mean, the fishermen, they're bringing back less and less fish every day. We don't know what to do. We have less going forward. I'm worried, you know, lots of murmurs that seem to add to this notion.
[00:04:01] Uh, and then this one person kind of in the back goes, yeah, and I don't like the fact that there's like that thing in the forest that keeps taking the children. And then another person stands up and says something about like losing some of their produce. And it just becomes kind of a hubbub of people talking over each other before the mayor goes, okay. Okay. Okay.
[00:04:26] First of all, Marianne, Gwendolyn's fence is perfectly within the standard parameters. I measured it myself. We've been over this. It's fine. Just plant it on the other side of your yard. We've talked about this before. It's going to be okay. Uh, Mr. Sanders, not all of the sailors have come back from their last trip out. So we are simply waiting for the rest of them to return. And then we will have the bounty that we are waiting for.
[00:04:56] Everything is going to be just fine. And there is, of course, no monster inside the woods taking children. If that's all, we're going to move on to matters of the upcoming festival. Uh, and then he just kind of seems to carry on a little bit and starts talking a little. It seems more or less like, nor, sorry, your face is covered.
[00:05:24] Uh, seems to be more or less some normal legalese of like, hey, everybody make sure that you're in by a curfew. Nobody stay out too late. We're going to have like some minor banners put up. We need somebody in charge of a committee. It starts to kind of turn into a seemingly normal hubbub of communal activity. Hearing all this, what do you guys do?
[00:05:52] Tal will kind of look up and just kind of verify firstly that both of his allies that he knows of are still there. Are you guys still there? Um, Phelan's going to look and probably still see Will done. I will say if any of you guys wanted to do anything during that, I know I said a lot of stuff was happening. If you wanted to chime in at any point or say that your character did something while that was occurring, we can go ahead and say that something happened. It's all good.
[00:06:21] I just wanted to set up kind of the mood and the vibe of what was happening inside. Tal definitely didn't. Tal's been trying to be a fly on the wall. So he's, uh, being as incognito as possible. Okay. Fantastic. So you're just being silent back there while other people talk and everything. Okay. Got you. Yeah. You notice there are some people who are staying perfectly quiet still. They're not really interacting with the rest of this. There's some people who get up to talk, some people who talk amongst themselves. You blend in pretty well. Will is gone.
[00:06:52] He's following three figures. You're following the three. So Phelan has been watching both allies and had planned to follow Will from a distance. She doesn't want to get too close since she's supposed to be inconspicuous, but, uh, she thinks that Tal will be perfectly safe, surrounded by these complaining villagers. As Tal looks up, Tal looks up to where he believes his allies were.
[00:07:23] I think Phelan would try to give a signal, just like a, and then like gone. And as Tal looks up and sees the bird do that and then dip out, Tal will quickly get up and scuttle on his way. If he passes the bartender as he does, he'll kind of, thank you for your kindness, madam. Have a nice night. And he'll, you too, sweetheart. Have a great day. Yep. He'll dip straight out the door and he will attempt to follow the bird as close as he can,
[00:07:52] still staying in disguise until he's out of view of the town. Okay. Okay. So you get up and you leave town hall meeting. Great. Um, do you try to hide that you're doing this or you just kind of walk out super casually or. If at all possible, you know, blend in with like the surroundings, you know, maybe like touch the bar mingle for a second, you know, say bye to the bartender and then, you know, make my way out. But, uh, yeah, as, as, as nonchalantly as I can.
[00:08:22] Gotcha. Uh, the bartender's not at the bar. Okay. She did sit next to you to be part of the town meeting. But if you're telling her like, Hey, you're going to get out of here. Okay. Gotcha. Gotcha. She goes, Oh yeah. Okay. Just be real cool. And I quietly dip out. Okay. You do so. All right. Uh, I'm going to go ahead and say just for fun, go ahead and roll me stealth just to see how well you do this creep out. Uh, it's not a super high DC. I definitely made it then.
[00:08:51] That is a 25. Oh, fantastic. Okay. Uh, on a 25. Can I, can I say that I do like the Batman thing where like I say bye and then like she goes to like say bye to me and I'm already gone. Yes. Yes, you can. You can have disappeared. And when she looks the other direction, you catch it just enough to duck a little bit and she doesn't catch you then either. And she's like, exhales on the other side of the door going, that was sick. Damn, I'm good.
[00:09:22] Oh yeah. You can hear this. You can hear the dun, dun, dun. You can hear the music. As soon as I get out of your shot, I start playing my own. Dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun. It actually muffles the sound of you opening the door and the footsteps and everything just a little like it just, the closing of it behind you. Let's go. I love it. On a 25. Yes. Yes. Yes. All right. And yeah, I'm after that bird after that point. Okay. Awesome. Awesome. So I do just want to ask how much of the town hall meeting do you have want to have
[00:09:52] heard before you decided to dip? So I just kind of know whereabouts when during that y'all got out. I think the moment I would have heard the kids going missing in the forest, I'd be like, no, I'm going to the mayor's house. We're going to see what's going on here. Okay. Got you. Fantastic. That was near towards the end. So you would have been kind of waiting. Then that's when he would have taken on. That's when you would have gone. Y'all would have heard all of that part. Slightly staggered. Exactly. Yeah.
[00:10:20] It would be like almost how high are the rooftops? Um, I mean, standardly high, like a normal room. Basically. Hey, for listeners at home, look up at your ceiling right now. Unless you're, don't you feel dumb now? Unless you're doing much better than we are right now. It's at that height. It's normal. It's like a standard roof. It's not incredibly tall or incredibly short.
[00:10:45] So Phelan's staying rooftop level following Will, but like house or two down so that it's not as suspicious. Gotcha. Okay. So yeah, you're flitting between the things and you're staying at a, I got you. Okay. Uh, are you attempting to just appear as like normal bird-like as possible wearing your outfit or are you attempting to be a person who is flying through? Um, just the casual bird. Just, just. Okay. Yeah.
[00:11:15] I just want you to give me a performance check just, just for fun. How bird-like does Phelan appear? Yes. How animalistically bird-like do you appear as you fly through? That's a performance? Performance. Yes. Uh, Unless you'd like to pitch me a different role. How much is the bardic? Uh, the bardic is a D6, I believe. Yes. That's a 17. Nice!
[00:11:43] On a 17, uh, you catch the wind just right that you actually fly in with another flock of birds and despite being a big owl, the rest of them kind of blur you and you pick up a couple things on how to shift and just twist your head a little bit and you're like, okay, yeah, you got it. You feel good about this. You got this down as you're flying through. Uh, Will. You just headlocked on these three figures are taking off after them. How are you doing this?
[00:12:14] Uh, blending in with the shadows as always. Okay. Uh, they are moving at a pretty decently fast clip. So, I'm just going to ask you, are you going to choose keeping them in your line of sight, like trying to keep a certain distance from them? Or are you going to choose thinking, you know, the direction they're going to prioritize stealth? I mean, I'm naturally stealthy. I'm not worried about it. I'll keep, I'll keep. You'll keep pace? Yeah. Okay.
[00:12:41] Then roll me a stealth check as you keep pace with them for a higher DC. And, uh, just as a refresher, this is like afternoon at this point or. Okay. Uh, very good question. Uh, let me think through cause it was like daybreak. We know I had that conversation with Lou that took about an hour. I want to say it was maybe another hour or two that you guys talked on the boat as you drifted towards this Island. Okay. And then you've been here for a little bit. I'll say we're approaching noon. Okay.
[00:13:11] So we're not, uh, we're not into the afternoon or the evening yet. We're approaching noon. It's still sun high in the sky. Still a lot of day left. Yes. Soft 20. No. Uh, soft 20. How close do you want to get to him? Uh, about 35 feet away. 35 feet away. Just kind of meandering, ducking between switching the coat in and out, moving smoothly through as if you belong with each different group that you kind of edge past.
[00:13:39] It is no problem to keep them 35 feet ahead of you as they, with less stealth and more forthrightness than you think maybe a clandestine mission, like what this possibly could be, should be doing. Uh, they just kind of make it this beeline straight for the mayor's house. Uh, they approach and you watch as instead of going to the front door, one of them goes to the front door. One of them goes to the right.
[00:14:09] One of them goes to the left. They split without any kind of motion between them. They just move as if in sync. What do you do? Can I tell that the rest of the party is following me? I'd say, I'd say you can look back and you can spot Phelan. She's just performing.
[00:14:38] She's not exactly stealthing, I would say. So you can spot that she's up kind of following a little bit behind you and how? I would say that as I shuffle through the streets, really would depend on the amount of notice I was given, you know, from Phelan taking off. Um, so I'd be, you know, semi close, but also I'd be, you know, trying to kind of blend in as I walk through and I'll like beeline it. And when I kind of like, you know, casually join each crowd as I shuffle my way slowly and
[00:15:08] then conspicuously down the street. So you're following Phelan with your eyes and kind of taking whatever ways you can get to keep her inside. I'm walking as if I was an old man meandering down the street and not a young man beeline Are you playing your, are you playing your lute as you go? Just kind of. Um, I would say no. I'm going to try and be inconspicuous if at all possible. Okay. Only for the bit while I was sneaking. Uh, if you wait. Then I immediately delute. I will say, well, if you want to wait to see if Tal is coming up with you, you definitely
[00:15:37] know Phelan is just a little bit behind. I'm going to message Phelan. Uh, you said which one went where? Uh, there's three of them. One went right up to the door. One went left. One went right. It is a long rectangular building. Same as the rest of this place. It is like wood and brick and clay and stonework. It is very cobblestone-esque. Uh, I'm going to message Phelan and say, I'm going right. Watch the front.
[00:16:07] And if Tal comes, tell him to take the left. And I'm going to pursue the one on the right. Okay. Fantastic. Will do, Captain. Um, Phelan actually, I think, will go to fly up on top of the building's roof so that she can see. I actually don't know exactly what this building looks like, but some buildings will have like a signpost above the doorway. Does this one have one of those?
[00:16:36] Uh, I like that a lot. Yes. There will be a signpostage above that, uh, uh, and instead of where town hall should be, you can kind of see it's patchwork done job, but it does say mayors with just mayors apostrophe PS, but it, it looks amateurly done. She's going to sit on top of that and kind of roost down and pretend to be an owl taking a chill for the night.
[00:17:06] Okay. Hey, I will remind you it is, it is before noon. So it's bright daylight, but there's no problem with sitting up there. It'll probably be fine. I want to be where Tal can see me. Gotcha. Yeah. It only takes a few seconds later for Tal to turn a corner and for you to catch her land and rest there.
[00:17:25] Um, just in time for you guys to see one figure up at the door, but you don't see will. Okay. Okay. Trying to figure out who we're going first here with. We can roll initiative. Yeah, we can roll initiative. You want us to roll initiative? Oh yeah. We can just roll initiative for this. Yeah. It's going to be me, but you know, it's whatever. No. It's not going to be me.
[00:17:55] Uh, maybe not. So 13. I might have done to, uh, 15 for Tal. I was wrong. I only wrote a five plus eight. That's a 13 as well. Plus eight. Yeah. You suck. Okay. Okay. 15 Tal. Uh, 13. Hey John, are we going to be friends today? Love you. I'm assuming your dex is higher than hers. I guarantee you it is. Okay. Absolutely. So 13 and then 13. So we have then Will. Will. And then we have Phelan. Yeah. Probably. Probably. And then.
[00:18:24] All right. That's the case. We do this one. That is. Yeah. Okay. Top of the round. The person with no information. Um. Um. Without like taking an action. Yeah. Can Phelan have been just casually pointing to the left in the hopes that Tal will get it? Oh yeah. We could. Yeah. I'll say that's, that's perfectly fine for you to have heard that message from Will and kind of pointed that direction for when Tal goes up.
[00:18:54] Tal, it's up to you how you interpret that though. Over here. Uh, so Tal, it is your turn. You've seen kind of where you are over here. Uh, I will say, uh, uh, I did say you couldn't see Will, but considering where we are on the map right now, I'm willing to retcon it and say that you can see him peering over that side as he's leaving, if you'd like.
[00:19:21] Um, but as you can see, there's one hooded figure at the door and Phelan who is just kind of perched up, up top. And she gestured to the left. So yes, what would you like to do now that you can see before you? Um, so looking kind of at this party, I guess from my mind, you know, Tal being where he's been this whole time, he doesn't really have a whole lot of insight as far as what's actually going on.
[00:19:47] Yeah, no, you were totally here to pick up on some local goss and then your whole team just fully left after they heard about a monster taking children. They were like, nah, this is boring. We got to go. So Tal saw Phelan point at this building. So Tal's going to be like, yeah, I totally got you, man. And Tal's going to go ahead and walk directly up to the front door to this first pirate. Yeah. Uh huh. And he's going to say, hello, the young buck. My name is Otis.
[00:20:16] And he's going to, uh, with the, the cloak kind of draped over his hand as to not, you know, reveal he is blue, shake this man's hand with the, the clocked cloth, uh, hand. Uh, got you. You reach out a clothed hand. Uh, you greet this hooded figure, uh, and she turns around to look at you and size you up. How frail are you attempting to appear? Uh, not a threat at all.
[00:20:46] Non-threat. So I'd say, um, not like weak to the point, like I shouldn't be traveling on my own, but like definitely a frail old man. Okay. I'll allow you to make me a performance check right over here. Uh, I don't know if disguise kit gives you, lets you have advantage on these things or if it's just deception. Uh, cause then let me double check. Yeah. Cause if it does, I'll let you roll deception, actually deception or performance. I'll let you pick.
[00:21:13] Um, you have the proficiency with the tool, add your proficiency bonus to any ability check that you make that uses the tool. Oh, any ability. Okay. I think we talked last time. So it can kind of be either way is my understanding. Either like you roll to see how good the disguise is, which I did initially, or like when somebody's, you know, doing a check on you, then, then we set that some, some other way. I don't know. For disguise kit? Yeah.
[00:21:40] I mean, as rules are written, I think it's just the DC 10, but if, if it's more interesting for you, it can be contested roles. Okay. Okay. Okay. Um. Performance. Performance. Okay. Uh, let's see. I can't remember. Do you remember how we rolled on the disguise initially? Uh, really well, I believe. Really, really well? Yeah. I believe it was like 20 something. Yeah. 20 to low twenties.
[00:22:10] Okay. I'll go ahead and say that I'll lower the DC that I had in mind. Okay. So I rolled an eight, then performances plus six. So that is going to be a 14, 14, 14. Okay. Fantastic. Uh, she looks at you and goes, yeah, yeah. Uh, is it your turn? Cause we're doing this kind of in a turn order. Yeah. Okay. Fantastic.
[00:22:39] Uh, it's not her turn yet. So you will get her answer in a moment. Cause these are all happening in six second intervals now. Oh, gotcha. Okay. Yeah. Then after I greet myself, I'm standing there waiting, waiting for a response. Beautiful. Uh, Phelan, you have gestured for Tal to go left over the building and he's walked right up the center and engaged the first person. Uh, what do you do seeing this? Nobody listens to the navigator. Uh, she's, she's going to a great job of listening to be completely.
[00:23:10] She's going to shrug her little shoulders and she's going to fly around the corner where she was trying to tell Tal to go. Okay. Yeah. Go ahead and move your person, uh, how you would like. Um, do you have increased fly speed or is it just the same as you're walking? I believe it's the same as my walking. Okay. Dope, dope, dope. And I'm going to wherever there is a sill or somewhere that I can hang above wherever this pirate is going. Okay.
[00:23:38] Uh, I'm going to go ahead and say with like the overhanging of the roof, you can kind of have a perch just about anywhere on here. It's kind of a shaggy, like, I'm going to go ahead and say like, uh, uh, just a, I don't know enough about roofing. God damn. Yeah. Uh, single gutters. Can I just, yeah. Can we just have gutters ahead of its time? Yeah. Ahead of its time. Let's go ahead and say it's got some rudimentary gutters up in here. And so you can perch in that along the side if you'd like.
[00:24:07] Yes. You can have a vantage point up there. You could also just be flying, but if you want to be perched up there, you can. I want to make as little noise as possible. So you are an owl. You are the most silent bird. Hmm. Good point. Good point. I just want to be above this pirate so they hopefully don't see me, but I want to see where they're going and what they're doing. Gotcha. Uh, I will say make me a stealth check because you are definitely trying not to be heard by this person, but.
[00:24:37] Could I, could I potentially say that I've used that turn, you know, talking to this first pirate as a potential just distraction for this first pirate? Oh, I like that idea. I like that. I got a dirty 20. Oh, okay. I'm going to say I'll allow you to give the help action, but you have to decide right now. Is it for this? Or is it for a potential move by, uh, oh, I'm so sorry. I skipped you, Will. You should have gone before Phelan.
[00:25:07] Yeah, but it's okay. I'm curious where this is going. Genuinely, if I mess up like that, guys, feel free to be like, oh, wait a second. I didn't notice, to be honest. Um, I was going to hold my action anyways. Oh, okay. I'll hold my action to, uh, to dash if I see them go through the window. Okay. Okay. Fantastic. Fantastic. I will just say, DM, whatever you think is most accurate to the situation. I'll just say, I'm trying to distract this person, whoever it helps out most.
[00:25:35] Because now that I know the outcome, I don't think that it's fair that I tell you one way or the other. Now that we know she succeeds, like ours goes, pull back a little bit. Yeah, 30-20 is good, but I don't want to cheat like that. I'm just happy you're engaged and throwing out ideas, man. I like it. I'm here for it. All right. Good guy Otis over here. Yeah. Good guy Otis. Yeah, Otis is cool. John's an asshole. Tal is, we're indifferent about Tal. I definitely need to remember that you introduced yourself as Otis to this person and David to Barkeep. There we go.
[00:26:05] David to Barkeep. Let me go. I got to keep that straight because I need that to come back and bite you in the ass at some point. There we go. I'm really going to throw you at this third day. Yes! Akabees! Pleasure to meet you. Okay. I'm Ship Can Sam. Phelan, with a dirty 20, you feel reasonably certain, especially as this figure keeps walking with seemingly no issue that they do not know that you are there.
[00:26:33] You feel very confident in this. Is there anything you want to do with your turn outside that? No. I suppose it's also preparing an action because I just want to follow as closely as I think I safely can behind this pirate to see if they're just going around to the back entrance or what they're doing exactly. Got you. And I do believe, correct me if I'm wrong, but I do believe that if you're attempting to
[00:27:00] do something stealthily, that doesn't count as your action when I ask for the stealth skill check. It would be if you were attempting to actually physically do something. Like a different kind of check that would then be that check for an action. You would technically move at half speed though. So you could action dash and move your full speed. But because you're trying to go stealthy, I just say, hey, give me the stealth and we see how it goes. Yeah. And that doesn't count. Got you. Got you. Got you. Okay. Okay.
[00:27:37] So, Will, you're holding your action to dash and follow this person if they go through the window. Yes. Okay. Fantastic. They go through the window. Wonderful. You see them go through the window. How soon after do you dash? Like, do you give them the six seconds for their whole turn to play out or do you rush immediately? I think probably three seconds in. Three seconds in? Okay.
[00:28:02] You see them get here from your place at the window. I'll say you can get here. Okay. You can look in. You can decide whether or not you go in. Shoot. That's a whole other action. Do I, I mean, is there anything obvious just from the window that they're doing? If you would like to make me a perception check as your action to thoroughly watch what they are doing and attempt to figure out what they're doing, go right ahead. Yes. Yeah.
[00:28:32] That's probably not going to do anything because I'm terrible at these. How's a seven? A seven. They're in the room. The room is a little bit dark just because despite there being plenty of other like windows there, none other are open where light can peek in and no like lamps or anything are going on. So you can't even really tell if this figure is one of those painted ladies you saw earlier. It's just a figure moving in the room.
[00:29:02] You can just kind of see them, but they seem to be standing kind of over in this area for a bit and they're not moving any further just yet. Oh, I mean, I mean, I've already done an action technically. So if I'm trying to move into the room, is my stealth carrying over or, or do you want me to just stay at the window? You are such a stealthy guy. Well, here, I'll allow you to keep the same stealth. Okay.
[00:29:31] But you tell me, are you going in this room? Especially because with that perception check, you don't kind of know exactly what you're stepping into. It's a very dark room. Do you want to get inside or do you want to let a little bit more play out before you step in? I'll wait. You'll wait? Yeah. Fantastic. That is that turn. And then, then we get to the figure by the door. Uh, she turns around.
[00:29:57] You see a young woman with just immediately in the face, lots of pink. It's the pink eyeshadow. It's pink hair. It's the pink lips. It's a little bit of pink face paint going on and everything like that. Very pink in an otherwise brown, like. Complexion. Uh, no, no, no. Uh, uh, uh, uh. Outfit. Outfit. Outfit. Okay. She sounds like a Pokemon gym leader. Trying and failing to go incognito. Right. And so. No, uh, she goes.
[00:30:27] Right. Sorry about this. And then she reels back and she punches you really, really, really hard in the face. She just full on punches an old man. Uh, she thinks you are a frail old man. And so she's trying to knock you out. Attempting at least. Attempting at least. Okay. That. Not her assaulting the orderlies. The fuck. I mean, it is a pirate. This is the, this is the cyan painted lady.
[00:30:56] She doesn't give a fuck. Uh, magenta. Sorry. Cyan is over there being watched by Phelan. Um. Crap. They all have mental link. Yeah. You did find that out last time. Combat. Uh oh. Spaghetti. Combat. Combat. Combat. Yeah. We can switch to the combat thing. Did she hit me? Are they going to full combat an old man though? Sorry. I am attempting. Wouldn't you? They already decked him. I mean, God.
[00:31:25] She's already winning the fight. She might as well finish it. Let's see. Um. I'm so sorry. I am trying to find where I put her. Here's my bad. Uh. Uh. She, she punches you really, really hard in the face. Correct me on this. On multi attack. Can she. You can attack again. I can attack again or can I choose to wait and see how much that hurts him before attacking again? Yeah. Wait, wait, wait. Okay. So she definitely. You can split it just like. I definitely beat my 17. AC. Uh. I was, I was about to ask you the, the roll and everything because I wanted to double check before I started rolling more.
[00:31:55] Um. Uh. That is. That is an 18 to hit. You said multi attack. Yes. Um. I'm going to. And also a question. And this might give something away, but do people being hit know if they're being hit lethally or non lethally? They do in post. Okay. Yeah. So there's no way to know if you're getting punched in the face, how much damage. When the proverbial green reaper is over your shoulder coming. Going. This way. Nah, bro.
[00:32:25] She toggled that on. You're good. Okay. Okay. So yeah, you just, you're just getting punched in the face and you knew that one hit and it hurt. I'm going to then say, instead of doing my initial reaction, which I was about to silvery barbs for sure. Okay. I'm going to just see that this is very clearly a situation my social skills are not going to work for. I'm going to just take this one literally on the chin. Okay. And I'm going to fold like an old lawn chair. Oh, I love it. And play this up.
[00:32:55] Like she just cold cocked me straight out, even though I'm very much not out. Okay. We hope. Okay. Let's roll the damage. I'm just going to fold like a lawn chair as soon as she hits me. Let me go ahead and roll the, roll the damage real quick. She does. Because you don't silvery barbs. So she full on connects and hits you. Don't shield. No shield. Nothing like that. You just take it and go. Oh, yes. Okay. That is seven damage. Okay. Yeah. I'm definitely not dead.
[00:33:24] You take seven damage and then you go down. Yes. I'm just going to. I need you to give me a performance check. Okay. To see how well you crumple like an old man who's just been cold cocked. I'm going to say pretty damn good. Okay. That is a, you said performance? Performance. That is a 22. 22. I'm going to say, hey, my name is Otis. And then I'm going to go. Oh, damn. Sorry about this. And then just right in your face. We find out.
[00:33:54] We find out thou is a mimic as a lawn chair. I'm just going to lay completely prone, but still. You just sprawl and go down. You feel her lift you up. And then she starts to put you behind some bushes. And then she puts some stuff over and goes. Right. Well, that's in number 94. Punch no man. Great. Good going. And then she gets. And she starts fiddling at the. You hear her fiddling at the door. You can't see her with the way she's positioned you, but you can hear her. And it's a metallic sound. So you.
[00:34:24] Okay. Okay. Great. And that is. That is her turn. Because instead of getting to do what she's trying to do, she had to go and punch you. So fantastic. Awesome. All righty. So that is top of the round. Phelan, you watch. She turns the corner. And you lose sight of her.
[00:34:54] And that's what happens for her turn. Tao. You've just been. You've definitely got the start of a black eye. You can feel it. But you have been rather gently laid down to be hidden by this bush. So you have partial. I'll say one fourth cover in this bush right now. Okay. So let me see. I am going. Say you are about right here now where she's put you.
[00:35:24] Yeah. So I will just prepare my action to make movement once she successfully gains entry. So once she gains entry, I would like to stealth my way up and kind of snake behind her. So you're going to hold your action to attempt to stealth and follow her once she opens the door and starts walking. Exactly. Okay. Got you. Got you. All right. Will. Oh, God. Will is going to script.
[00:35:54] Will is going to move into the room, carrying over that stealth if he can, just tied behind the chair for now. And I will hold my action to attack if things get hostile. I will say you're going to have to make a new stealth. Okay. Just because you've entered this new room and only you two are the occupants and it is very quiet in here. Hmm. Okay.
[00:36:24] I think that takes my action. Should be good, though. That is a 19. 19. Yeah. Yeah. You feel like you kind of slip in as though you just kind of rode the shadows into the room and you're just part of it now. You're good. But what were you saying you wanted to hold your action for? I was going to hold my action to attack if I felt any hostility. Any hostility. Okay. Like if she discovered you and then was like, all right, I'm about to.
[00:36:54] Discovers. Yeah. Yeah. Got you. Okay. Okay. Okay. So that's your mindset going. Good. Don't. Uh, Phelan. I mean, Dal's already got hostiled on. Yeah. And I don't know if I would have heard that or not. Cause my, again, my passive perceptions like a whopping 12. Ha. Okay. I'm going to say 12 with the speed with which that happened. Maybe you heard a small. Rustling in bushes. Oh, you know what? I did go. Oh, you did do that.
[00:37:24] How loud did you do that? I would say. I would say. And remember. I would say fairly audible because I, I was completely on a, So I wouldn't say like, I screamed it to the whole town, but like definitely anybody within the proximity would have heard. Okay. Otis's spleen. Uh, then my face. Then William, uh, if you would like to start your turn over with the knowledge that you did hear, uh,
[00:37:51] what sounds like Tal and his old man voice go, ah, and then a small thud. Uh, no, I'll, I'll be jumping. If, if I see, I let's say hostility. I can't do two actions. Yeah. Let's just say hostility. Okay. You're watching anything suspicious. That's a little too broad for you. So I'll just say if, if, if I get the sense that I've been spotted, well, I mean, I've been,
[00:38:18] I haven't making you use your action to continue these stealths and everything. Cause you're trying to be super stealthy. So I'll say you can set up like two parameters on this. Cause you are just kind of watching this person. Oh, I, I bonus action. I can do that. Actually. Hey, I was about to say you can't do action. Yeah. Okay. So that was bonus action. My action. Yeah. My action is just essentially if, if I, if anything's off, like I, but I don't know if that's too broad. Uh, right now, cause now that you're in the room,
[00:38:47] I mean, seven perception from earlier, from the outside, they're just kind of looking around. This figure does seem to be kind of like they're looking through stuff. Let's say this hostility. And for me personally, that would include if I see them doing any magic. Okay. Hey, I like that caveat. It makes sense for your character. Yes. Okay. Okay. That's turned for me. Fantastic. All right. Phelan. I am going to continue watching this pirate go around this corner and I'm going to sit
[00:39:17] on the corner of the corner of the building and kind of peek over the edge, kind of tilt my little owl head to the side and try to, try to see what this strange hooded person is doing. Okay. Um, I will ask you what's your passive perception. And also as an owl, cause I know some birds have very good hearing, but they're mostly have really good eyesight. So do, do owls have any sort of special hearing or anything like that for perception tests? Uh, my passage is 11.
[00:39:47] Owls have better vision. I think better vision than here. Okay. Okay. Got you. Got you. Got you. Uh, then on an 11, you would have heard the same, the same, uh, old man. Otis is down. Or just under my breath. If only he would have listened to navigate there, he'd probably be alive. No, a shame. Okay. And you're, uh, you said you're still stealthing up here and, uh, still stealthing. Yeah.
[00:40:16] But you're speaking under your breath. I'm on the ceiling. It's probably fine. It is. I'll remind you. We're the only ones who can hear the boss music. It is. It is a pleasantly breezy, but quiet day. Uh, so maybe I say this in my head. Okay. I'll let you, no, I'll let you, I'll let you mumble it, but you're just like, I kind of mumbling. And that's what you mean.
[00:40:46] I got to navigate the bastards. I got, I don't want to stifle your creative freedom. Uh, don't tread on me. Okay. Uh, so you continue to watch, uh, yeah, you catch up just as she kind of turns the corner. You guys are pretty close together in terms of what y'all are doing. Um, that is your turn. Did you say you're holding your action for something specific? Um, I would like to follow her inside if she makes it inside. Makes it inside.
[00:41:16] I don't know if that's an action. Uh, hold your action to dash. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You can do that. Um, all right. Fantastic. Uh, yellow. Yellow. It is now yellow's turn. And she is cursing up a storm under her breath as she goes to like, pull out a box, rifle through it, drops the box and goes, fuck. I just looked at what the shit went in another box. And now she's looking through two other boxes.
[00:41:45] She seems to be having a very rough go of her snooping. She's not, she does not seem very satisfied, but it is occurring. Um, she continues over on this side. Whoa. Uh, and then in a huff gives up and starts looking over here. That is her turn. Uh, cyan goes to the window, goes in.
[00:42:16] There's a perfectly good, potentially unlocked door right there, but she uses the window. Uh, potentially, but everything is potential. Everything is potential. Uh, she looks around and, uh, she goes over here and she lights what seems to be a wall torch. Just real quick. Uh, and then starts,
[00:42:45] uh, uh, purveying the room. So as you go down, you see that she's starting to turn. I'll allow you as part of your dash action to kind of follow through. Uh, do you want to continue through the window as she's turning around to look, or do you want to just fly by and attempt another swing around at another time? Cause you have essentially your full movement right now. Hmm. Hmm.
[00:43:14] They don't seem very good at sneaking around and failing's appearance, uh, you know, opinion. They, they seem kind of clumsy, maybe not used to this. I think feeling's pretty confident in her hunting abilities. She's going to, uh, land on the windowsill and then swoop right in and try to hide behind this barrel. Okay. This is why I as a DM just free ball it all the time. Cause I don't know if this is allowed, but I like it. I like the initiative.
[00:43:45] I like the chance. Um, okay. You swoop through and you attempt to hide behind here. I will say roll me stealth at disadvantage. I'm going to be able to attack them. You're so ready for it. Yes. Actually, my stealth is a lot higher than I thought it would be,
[00:44:15] which I guess makes sense for me, but that's a nine plus a five. So 14, uh, as you land behind, you hear her go, no bloody bud. Get out of here. Go shoe. And she's temps to start walking around to shoe you out. I, but that is the end of her turn. Hmm. And that is all you can do. Uh, tilt turn. Okay. Uh,
[00:44:45] all right. Uh, at the beginning of thing. All right. Tal, this is what you hear. Finally. Uh, and as what sounds like of the door kind of opening her stepping through, click, click. And then as she shuts it behind her. And as the door shuts, you know,
[00:45:14] since I had that action readied, I'd like to hop up and approach the door and attempt to open it quietly. Okay. Uh, I will say, go ahead. roll me stealth with a disadvantage. Well, one, because her adrenaline is up. Cause she did get caught already. Uh, but yeah, well, that's not bad. Okay. Uh,
[00:45:43] that is one second. That's an 18. That is an 18. Yeah. 12 plus six. She just kind of leaves the door behind her to close on its own. So as she's walking down, she doesn't really notice when you catch it before it closes, slip inside and let it rest. Still open. Just a little bit without actually latching shut. And you're in there.
[00:46:13] Since this is my first turn and I held my action for this, do I still get to use like my movement? Since I said I was going to hold my action to like silently move into the room. You're holding your action. You have your full movement and that's what you can do. Okay. Well, technically it's trigger. Cause it's, this is a reaction that you're like, this is, this is your held action. Your turn. When she finishes her turn, you'll have a whole nother turn. Yeah. Yeah. So you, you're essentially using your held action to get in here. Oh, okay. And then on my next turn, and that's when I can do all my, yes.
[00:46:43] So you've done half the work already to kind of get in here and you see, she is right there peeking into the other room as she calls in. Found it yet? And then one calls back. No. She goes, all right, shit. And then she goes over this way and she looks like she's about to start heading into the other room. Okay. But she's not looked back once. And that is the end of her turn. So now it is, uh, yeah. Wait, it's, it's tell now.
[00:47:13] Mm. Oh, I was looking down here at this thing. Uh, oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Perfect. Perfect. I'll confuse myself. You good. Um, do it. Let me, let the hate flow through you. Yeah. She already caught you. Let me go ahead and she had rings on her fingers, man. That hurt.
[00:47:45] I am going to, when I look up in the ceiling, is there like anything to grab onto or just kind of smooth walls all the way up to the ceiling? Uh, I will say if you want to sit here and you want to really look at that, it, it will probably cost you your action to survey this whole area. Cause one, it is dark. Okay. Uh, you are a sea elf though. Do you have dark vision? Uh, I do. Dark vision, 60 feet. Dark vision, 60 feet. Okay. Okay.
[00:48:13] So you don't really get to see the color of anything that's kind of going on in here. Uh, but light wise, I'm not sure how to rule this. Yeah. I'm going to say it's going to cost you your action, but, Hmm. Cause I'm also thinking you're kind of sitting here and if she even turns to look,
[00:48:41] she's going to spot you most likely. So I'm thinking, yeah, yeah. It's going to cost you your, fuck. If he moves, her pass was going to pick it up. Is that what you're basically saying? I, yeah. Yeah. So it sounds like you can either hold your action again or you can just do something and, and the alarm bells are going up. Cause I mean,
[00:49:08] her alarm bells are going to go up cause she has her passive enough to catch you there. Um, okay. So I am basically, if you want to try and move further in, you're going to need to stealth it and you're going to need to be very stealthy. But if you want to get the lay of the land before you move, thinking that she's about to walk into the room, if you get lucky, then you have a plan for your next turn. Okay. Or you might get some lay of the land. You might get some information.
[00:49:38] You might notice something that's helpful. I don't, it's, it's in this moment. Are you more trying to figure out what your next move should be? Or are you trying to make a move or are you, how are you playing? I am going to kind of peek in the room and I'm going to see what's going on. I'm going to kind of keep my hand in the doorway, let it nestle shut.
[00:50:08] And then I'm going to just prepare and attack. And I'm going to hold my action. Wait, wait for them to make a move before I, before I attack. Okay. Okay. You say you're peeking in the room. You are inside the hallway. So what I'll do is I'll keep my hand in the doorway where I like caught the door before. Okay. Okay. Once I come in on the one turn and kind of look down the hallway, see what's going on. I'm going to like lean back out and keep my hand in the doorway, kind of keep the door open the whole time. And just, so you want to be back outside.
[00:50:38] You want to be outside peeking in. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Right here with my hand still kind of in the doorway so I can hear and partially see what's going on. Okay. I just want to hold like a, like a fire bolt or something. Hold the cantrip fire bolts and get ready to launch it at her. If needed. Needed. I'll say if, if they attempt to leave. Okay. So if it looks like she's turned around, but she was about to walk back towards you. Yes. If that seems like it's going to be a case. Yes.
[00:51:07] Or if you hear the words we're leaving and she's still in the hallway. I'll say if she actually makes a motion towards the doorway. Towards the doorway. Like if they start heading towards the doorway. Okay. Gotcha. Gotcha. Gotcha. You're ready for her to turn around and go. Exactly. Okay. Alrighty. Well, it is now your turn. We got to break this tension. I am still hidden. Yeah. I'll just remain hidden, I guess.
[00:51:37] And hold my action to attack. Same, same thing. Okay. Okay. So you're waiting where you are underneath the window, hidden behind. We'll go ahead and say there's like, cause there's not exactly this furniture in here, but I, we can just say that there's like some debris and detritus, you know, and stuff around. Uh, so we can say there's like a kind of broken couch right there. Uh, so yeah, you're, you're, what are you attempting?
[00:52:06] What are you going to hit her with? Are you preparing like your sword to rush her or if she comes near you or are you? Yeah, probably my swords. If I am, if I can use movement on a held attack, I'll say you can, uh, right now we can use your same stealth and you could attempt to get a little bit closer. Why don't we just make it interesting? I'm going to, I'm going to get up right behind her. Mm hmm. Oh my gosh. And I'm going to whisper.
[00:52:41] Dang it. I was just about, I was about to show your message saying you could wait till you know what they're after. Yeah. And then attack them and be like, I have it now. Yeah. Oh my God. Yeah. See, like, I feel, I feel like that's important before we just do anything. So if that's the case, I'm, I'm moving up to her. Uh, I'll have my swords ready. Uh, I'll hold my action to attack as she goes hostile at the reaction in,
[00:53:11] in reaction to me asking that question. Okay. Okay. So that's your turn. And other things happen before we get to hers. It was fun. Well, so that's it. Yep. Phelan. So Phelan plops into this room and here's the pirate go, no, no bird. And like comes around the corner of the barrel. All right. Shh, shh, shh. Get out. Get out.
[00:53:38] Phelan will square her little shoulders. The things I do for a mission. And she is going to plop out her feathers and then start spazzing around the room like a scared bird feathers flying everywhere. And she's just going to go, go absolute ham flying until she can find a, like a rafter to go in like a hide behind near the ceiling. Oh my gosh.
[00:54:10] Okay. Okay. Can I just suggest something? Please do. Yeah. Make her roll an animal handling check to see how she handles herself as an animal. Oh my gosh. How do you roll that though? Cause I'm not stealthing. That's funny. Like I'm performance. My immediate thought was performance. And then it's like, you're trying at the end, you're trying to find like a good place to land. So it's like, well,
[00:54:40] you kind of need to survey the area a little bit before. Is it just pure luck if you land in a place where you can? And it's like, ah, what is it? You're using up your whole movement going crazy. And just at the end of your movement, you're hoping you're in a good place. Right? Basically. Oh my God. That's funny. Okay. It's a spaz bird. I am the bird. I just, I need,
[00:55:08] I need an adult. You know what? We're going to roll animal handling. Okay. Just roll animal handling for fun. Always deferred. Roll as an advantage because it's just craziness. Thank God. That it just might work. It just might work. It's basically a luck roll at this point. So just do this, but you get a little extra on top of it. Hopefully that's a 13. It was a nat one for the first one. Oh my gosh. Okay. Uh, at a 13,
[00:55:36] you do not get to reach the rafters. Uh, you do end up next to, I'm going to say this, uh, this torch. Uh, and you have purported yourself so haphazardly that she doesn't even care if you're a person or a bird or not. She just goes fucking shit. Uh, and she's gonna, uh, wait a second. It's your turn. Yeah. She looks bewildered.
[00:56:06] You have confused her. The birds have worms on this Island. That was the goal. So you, you have thoroughly, uh, bamboozled her. She doesn't know what to do. And that's not a reflection of me as the DM at all. Uh, so that's your action. That's your move or that's, that's your movement. That's your, yeah. Did I perform an action? Uh, did you? Your animal. I just kind of flew. Yeah.
[00:56:36] You kind of flew around in the animal hand and was to see how that was going to turn out on a 13. You didn't get hurt and you didn't hurt anybody. No hit points have been lost. No ground has been gained, uh, but you are a bird, but you are a bird. You feel closer to your feathered brethren right now. You do feel like you've kind of tapped into wild style a little bit. Use his bird. The empathy for all the poor birds that this has happened to is really kicking in.
[00:57:07] How obvious would it be that I was casting a spell if I cast it to spell? Probably pretty obvious. Right in the middle of all this fluttering. A flash of light and then just an innocent little owl. I mean, the facade's got to end at some point. I've almost ended it like five times now at this point. I think you're keeping a tally. Yeah. I'll say you'll, you'll have bamboozled her enough that she won't get to reaction anything on you. If you do a spell,
[00:57:37] she won't be, she won't be any more confused than she already is. Yeah. Yeah. In fact, that would probably confuse her even more to be like, wait, you're a spurs, you're a spellcaster. I was surprised you had people clothes. I learned you're wearing a little shirt when you sit off. Oh my God. I love this. Now that we've canonically solidified the fact that you've, homebrewed, that you're actually the size of a bird. Yes.
[00:58:07] So I think for my action, instead of attacking or anything crazy, I'm going to act like I am out of breath from being a wild animal trapped in an enclosed space. And I'm just going, and I'm going to back up into the wall and try to like nudge my little butt against the desk. So I look absolutely terrified. Oh, okay. That's my action. Okay. Anyways, no. Okay. You know what? We're just going to go ahead and do performance roll for this.
[00:58:36] And we're going to include the other part into it. And we're just, I mean, didn't Shetty do that with her animal handling? With the animal handling. Yeah. Yeah. I can prepare an action. I think, I think the animal handling was your action. Fair, fair. You still have a bonus action until it moves away from you. I don't think I have anything useful for a bonus action. You've bamboozled me, Bethany. Hi. No, I don't have anything useful. Hey, Michael, you want to tag in his DM just for a little bit?
[00:59:05] You just want to pop over here and do this? Well, I guess I could prepare a bonus action. I don't think you can. No, preparing takes an action. Okay. I'm done. You can do a bonus action right now if you have one. No, because I don't want her to know I'm a sentient being that can use magic yet. Got you. I would just enter her. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. So then we move back to Yela. Back in the dark room with Will,
[00:59:32] she is futzing around with all the boxes. She's complaining about how old this place is, how gross this place is, how she can't fucking find anything. And then she hears, what are we looking for? Right behind. And she goes, and she just turns around and immediately dagger goes to swipe. Okay. Uh, that will trigger my attack. Uh, first swing.
[01:00:08] That was a 18 to hit. Uh, Oh, Oh, you're to hit her. Gotcha. Gotcha. Gotcha. Does your reaction go first before hers? Yeah. When she goes through that? Okay, cool. No, I'm just making sure that I don't start doing math in my head before I need to. Gotcha. Okay. Uh, you said 18 to hit. Yes, that does hit. Okay. And that will trigger sneak attack. Oh, good rolls.
[01:00:42] 13. That is 18, uh, slashing damage. Okay. Does Nick still apply on, on a held attack? Will I still be taking a swipe with my second? I mean, I think it's probably DM. I think Nick technically says when you do damage, you're doing an attack with a light weapon. Yeah. Oh, it's an attack action. You're right. Yeah. One more swing. Okay. Ooh, even better. That was a 24 to hit. Uh, 24. That one doesn't. Yeah.
[01:01:12] So it's 18 on the first attack. Yep. And then it's three on the second attack. Three. Got you. Three. Got you. As it just instinctively comes out both swords. Oh yeah. She goes to swirl around and you rip her up as she then brings the, uh, dagger down on you. Um, does a, uh, 19 hit. It does. It does. Okay. Okay.
[01:01:41] That is five hit points. Okay. Uh, and then she turns, looks at you, sees you, recognizes you as you recognize her. This is the yellow triplet of the painted ladies and goes, fucking hell. What? Why? Why?
[01:02:11] Curiosity. Is it, are you after it too? Yes. Oh, we deception. Oh God. I didn't make it in. It's okay. That was a nat 22. We roll it in at 22. That's crazy. Uh, some loaded dice. Oh, he's been cheating. It goes to 11. Nine, 16, 16, 16. Okay. Let's see.
[01:03:01] She looks at you and her eyes kind of flash and she just lets out a shark. Can someone do like a sharp little looky Lou whistle for me? Perfect. Love it. Uh, get her on the payroll and immediately everyone who's got an eye on a twin or a triplet, uh, can see them park up and turn in that direction. Wonderful.
[01:03:32] Fantastic. So that's what she does. It's still her turn. Um, so she is going to bonus action, disengage and duck back around here. And when she comes out of here,
[01:04:01] she turns this way towards the door. Uh, Tal, it's not the person you were looking for, but she is turned to look at you and her eyes kind of widened a little bit. You want to go ahead and let go of your health reaction on her? So with me peeking in the doorway, I was waiting for anybody to make a move towards the doorway. So yeah, as soon as I see her turn down the corner in a, in a fury, I'll swing it fully open. Loot at the ready. Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding,
[01:04:31] and blades go up in the, uh, in the entry of the doorway. And I'm going to go ahead and put those down. You said you were holding firebolt. Oh, that's right. That's right. Yeah. I did say firebolt specifically. Uh, then I'll go ahead and, uh, just firebolt. I'll, I'll point my loot and ding, ding. And I'll, I'll launch one right at her. That's canonically the sound of a fireball. Exactly. Yeah. Firebolt, firebolt, fireball goes, a little bit more vibrato. Yeah.
[01:05:00] So go ahead and roll that now then. Yes. Go ahead. I thought cloud of daggers was the, uh, James Bond. Right. Opening to golden eye. Uh, so that is, uh, 15, uh, 15 does not hit shit. Uh, but just because you were waiting for it and everything like that, you can catch a little bit of her, uh, cloak on fire. Sounds good. I'll, uh, I'll just completely whiff on that then. And I'll be, uh, she's, she, you can see her. She's running on pure adrenaline. Now she backs up. She looks a little pissed off.
[01:05:29] She's why eyes widened. She barely dodges and it singes a little bit of the fine hair. Uh, and if their hood knocks back and you see, it is a woman who looks, especially in that streak of firelight, looks just like the woman you were up close with. But this one isn't all decked out in yellow. And she screams out. Fuck. And that's just it. That's it. That's a, that's her turn. Oh my gosh. Uh,
[01:05:59] now it is magenta's turn or yeah. Yep. Mm. Mm. Mm. Yep. Sorry. It's, it's, it's, uh, blue. It's cyan. Well, cyan goes first, but it's yellow and then magenta is supposed to go. Mm. Mm. Cyan 17, yellow's eight, magenta six. Right. So it's,
[01:06:27] it's a little messed up on the order. No, it's not because you're at the end of the turn order. Yellow just went. So you have cyan going at the bottom of the turn order and then you've got magenta. Yeah. But she's saying that cyan and magenta are supposed to be switched. Yes. Like cyan had the 17, not magenta. Yeah. This was yellow's turn. And so then magenta is supposed to go next. And then cyan. That's fine. We can just flip it in our heads for the combat. Okay. I mean, I can switch it. We've been playing it as if.
[01:06:58] That's what trip. Remember when I was tripped up that first time and that other round? Cause I thought somebody else was supposed to go in that. Yeah. Now that was it. I was just like, Oh, did I get it wrong? And then let's just switch it. It all makes sense now. There you go. Magenta. And honestly, I mean, it could have been me who mixed it up when I told you initially and everything like that. So when I'm looking between the two, I'm like, wait, what? So all kinds of things.
[01:07:30] Okay. So now it's magenta's turn. Yeah. The two triplets kind of look at each other a little bit. And then she, magenta whisper something. And then starts walking in here. Sees you will. Cracks her knuckles and goes, well, hi, that pretty boy. And starts walking right up into your space.
[01:08:01] She's going to multi attack you. Okay. Let's see. First. What's your AC? 16. 16. Okay. Yeah. First one. Definitely whiffs. Second one. 70 plus five. Yeah. That's a, that one hits. So very piss poor damage. Uh, that is four damage. Okay. And the last,
[01:08:30] the last one, uh, tires that definitely hits. And that is six damage. Okay. Uh, so she walks in without breaking stride. Crack, crack,
[01:09:22] crack and then whiffs one hit. What's the screw up there? Uh, I wasn't sure what lamp you were talking about. I didn't see. Oh yeah. I put you there. Yeah. I put you right there. Hmm. That's where the, that's where the torches. Cause that's where she walked in initially. Yeah. Um, so honestly, we're just going to make a quick little intelligence check for cyan over here. Uh huh. And, uh, she goes, we are not getting paid enough for this.
[01:09:50] And she walks right past you, looks down this hall and goes, all right. She snaps three times, three tiny little spheres of cyan blue pop up, spin in a little triangle and go, and they all aim at Utah. Um,
[01:10:19] I believe with magic missile, they just hit. Correct. I believe so. Okay. Let me see. Uh, yeah, you just roll damage. Does, do I get a reaction? Her walking right past me like that or no, you can, if you'd like to, let me, let me see. Or else the magic missiles coming to you then. Yeah. Yeah. That's what you want. Don't worry. I can take it.
[01:10:55] You know what? I'll keep, keep up the act for, act for a second longer. Okay. Okay. Uh, oh, fantastic. All right. So yeah, she just walks right past you. She fully believes that you're just a weird ass bird. Uh, or at least as far as you're aware. Uh, and here we go. Okay. So three darts, that is five for the first dart. Tell four for the second and two for the last.
[01:11:27] 11. We can take this guys. Y'all got this. We don't, we don't need a tank. I definitely wasn't thinking you guys were going to meet up with him first and then potentially go over here later on maybe or in a different venue and fight them. And with this other dude, no, it's fine. Okay. Uh, she stares at the yellow one and you can see this towel. They have a little silent conversation real quick.
[01:11:57] And then science settles up with her hand raised in that same position from the magic missile. And just seems like she's planting her feet. And that's where her, uh, turn ends. Now it's your turn. Let them up. Yay. Now, uh, uh, towel is going to, after have taken that, those blasts will kind of reel back and then loot up and then begin playing his,
[01:12:20] his small ballad as he brings up his spectral blades as the music notes fly up and then begin to spin faster and faster. Uh, and then pirate B is going to be in the middle of that. Okay. And pirate B will take, uh, 44 slashing. It's a good choke point though. Right. That's exactly what I was thinking.
[01:12:51] So that's, uh, so that's seven. I mean, we're working on wild magic. Nine damage. Okay. I need to see if nine damage does anything to this before I make my decision on my turn. So. Okay. Should be indication. Okay. Uh, yeah. Tal, you're watching your, and what is this again? This is your, uh, spectral blades. Spectral blades. Yes. What does it look like when you cast spectral blades? Cause I don't think you've done it yet. So I, I've done it one time before. Okay.
[01:13:19] I begin playing my loot and then basically Matt, uh, music notes begin to dance around and then they begin spinning faster and faster as they turn sideways and basically act like blades. That's fun. Yeah. Yeah. And, uh, that, that would be the, um, the cloud of daggers. Awesome. I like yours. And I like Sarah's of, uh, being poppy summoning, just a shiv, a shiva knives gang of ghosts. Right. Right. It's such a fun spell to go creative with. Yeah. Uh,
[01:13:48] you watch as your notes tear into her. Uh, she was already hurt before, but now the cloak is in tatters and you can see that she's bleeding quite heavily in a few places. Um, remind me what exactly is the bloody bloodied is less than 50, less than 50%, less than 50%. Okay. Got you. You watch as she goes from healthy to bloody.
[01:14:18] Nice. And as I'm kind of still on the doorway, I'm going to use my bonus action and chug a healing potion. Absolutely. And that'll be six healing. And those are actually D four. He did. I checked. Thank you. Yeah. Keep me honest, please. I swear. I only cheat sometimes when you're not caught. Uh, there we go. Thank you. Yeah. And, uh, then after that,
[01:14:47] I am going to attempt if at all possible, DM to kind of lean back and like use the door as cover, kind of give myself as much, you know, coverage as I can still peeking in the doorway, keeping my concentration. Uh, Oh, do you have to have line of sight to keep concentration? I believe so. Right? Yeah. Yes. Uh, I will say you will have, I think about three fourths cover behind the door. Cool. But, uh, your face,
[01:15:15] your face will be visible cause you have to maintain eye contact. Sounds good. Yeah. I've got my, I've got like my foot and my head in the door and that's it. Just your little fingies also. They're just like, Ooh, you're doing the Scooby doo thing of going through it. Yep. Oh, not the fingers. That's what plays the loot. Oh, wait, you're, you're actually doing the, you got a foot opening the door so that you can do your, exactly. I got the loot off over here and I'm like peeping in the doorway every now and then one of the notes flies over there and then circles,
[01:15:44] around the line and then flies back to you and you freshen it back up again and just keep cycling it. Yes. Hey, you gotta have the door open for that. Yeah. Fantastic. All right. Is that the end of your turn? That is the end of my turn. Well, taking one for the team here. I'm going to bonus action disengage from pirate a sidestep her, come around, stop right here at the door, make my two attacks on the yellow.
[01:16:13] And the first attack is a soft 20 to hit. Uh, stop 20 to hit does hit. Okay. And with my new charger feet, I'm also going to add a D eight on top of all of this. So that is, you do some math here. Nine, 12, 15. That is going to be 20 damage on the first hit.
[01:16:43] Dang. You do 20 damage on this first hit and she gets so loopy with that hit. She goes spinning through it and she is barely standing up, but she lets out instead of like a war cry or anything, just a, Oh, okay. She looks hurt. I got one more attack. That is an 18 to hit. Uh, yeah. Is this going to be a lethal? Yeah. Kill that. Kill that hoe. Let's hope. I don't know.
[01:17:13] Two, uh, slashing on that last two slashing. Damn it. Uh, she's still up. I don't have my modifier on my, on my off hands. She's still up, but 15, 20. In that case, I'm going to use the rest of my movement to kind of put a little more separation. Okay. Uh, as she wavers on her feet from throughout the air, throughout the house, you hear all three of them cry out. Uh, on that last hit,
[01:17:43] uh, as the end of your turn, Phelan, what are you doing? Um, having successfully pulled off, uh, the ruse of her lifetime, uh, Phelan stands up properly, uh, takes a look at her little trusty map and then pops out of existence. Flash of light on. And then all of a sudden she is standing proudly on Will's shoulders. And she's going to, she's going to bonus action sanctuary him.
[01:18:13] And then, you move from that down wings, spread light flash. And then, uh, you are protected by sanctuary. And she casts Ray of frost on the only part she can see. I think, I don't think she can see yellow. Okay. Can she known? Probably not from that angle. I think from that angle, it's just a little too far out. Yeah, I don't think so. So on magenta. Okay. Ray of frost on magenta. Nice.
[01:18:41] Can we just talk about how insane the guitar for is as a subclass that you can just basically get free misty steps so often. It's so cool to any allies. Yeah. Just right next to him. Amazing. That is. Sorry. That is. Oh, there it is. Uh, so that's a 15 to hit. Uh, 15 to hit. Uh, does not hit. Oh, darn. Okay.
[01:19:11] So just a streak of ice. Catapults towards her. And then she gets like some flecks of snowflakes tickling her face. It explodes in ice shards behind you, breaking a bookshelf. And she goes, fuck. Hell. End of turn. Uh, okay. Fantastic. Yellow. Does she take damage if she moves through it? I am double checking right now on later. Or does she take it instantly at the start or just if she stays there at the end?
[01:19:41] Uh, if any creature enters the cube or it ends its turn there, or if the cube moves into its space. Okay. So she can move through it and out of it without taking damage. Exactly. Yeah. If she, if she moves into it, if she ends her turn in it, or if I move it over her. Got you. So she staggers, attempts to dodge through a couple and through some of the blood loss, when her feet give out,
[01:20:10] it ducks her under a note as she then goes and she disappears around a corner. Uh, uh, let's see. Cyan, uh, hands her something as she goes past, uh, or no, sorry, sorry. Uh, yellow ducks into her cloak and take something as she walks past. Uh, as Cyan looks through this,
[01:20:40] guys, this is not, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. You're supposed to be unprotected. Okay. And she will let out another whistle. Beth, can you give me a different kind of whistle? Like, let's get out of here kind of whistle. All right. Fantastic. Uh, so she sees that and then,
[01:21:09] and she's going to go ahead, uh, uh, and start making her way out. And then let's see. Wait a second. Wait a second. What's she got? No, she doesn't have what I thought she had. Okay. Uh, uh, she will bonus action. Uh, or no, she will not bonus action. Uh, she will action down and then she will get out of sight into this room. You guys don't know where exactly she is. Uh,
[01:21:40] fantastic. Okay. Yeah, that is, uh, uh, uh, yellow's turn. Oh, whoops. I accidentally did a science whole turn as well, but that, that'll be what happens on her turn. Uh, magenta is going to reach in behind her, take out a glass bottle that seems to glow.
[01:22:10] Yellow. And she's going to say, well, remember this. Remember you. And then she is going to leap through the window from there. Just launch herself out. And she's tossing the bottle into the wooden structure over here. And she,
[01:22:39] there is a crash and her alchemist fire. Is going to start catching things on fire. So area that yellow was looking through that you saw. Well, uh, it starts to catch and burn. Tell what's your passive perception. Uh, 13, 13. And do your musical notes make noise in the middle of the hallway as they're swishing and flying around? Um, I don't know.
[01:23:09] Let me be a lot cooler. If you did. I feel like that's just a flavor. I mean, they're, they're, they're verbal. So, I mean, I would say yes. Like it kind of repeats the notes that I'm playing via loot. Okay. So you're hearing the ding, ding, ding going through. Uh, you do hear the crash and the start of a fire burning in this other room, but that's all. Uh, all right. And then I did science turn on accident a little too soon. So she's back over there. Well, you're up. It's actually towel. Oh, it's towel. Sorry.
[01:23:39] Can I just like send my cloud of daggers as far down the hall as I saw yellow go? Like as just down that hall, as far as I can. Uh, how many, yeah. Yeah. How many feet can you move it? I can move it up to 60 and you have to maintain eye contact to see correct. Uh, to maintain concentration. Yes. So you can move it all the way down to the end there, but so say like, I like spontaneously move this moving it with you. Yeah, I got you.
[01:24:06] But then say like right here would be like the last place I'd have line of sight on it or something like that. Uh, yeah, I would say you could do that cause you can still have line of sight on it. I will say she is in this next to Jason one. I'm not just doing that to fuck with you. I am saying she did move. I made her move her full movement out of the way to get as much, as far as possible. Sounds good. Well, towel attempted anyways. And, uh, that would be action and movement. That'll be end of turn, I guess. Uh, I guess that puts me,
[01:24:36] puts it on me. Um, I'm going to, as my free action, turn to Phelan and tell her, uh, investigate what they're trying to settle fire. And I will, um, I'm going to use my bonus action dash. I'm going to come down. Okay. And I'm going to come right up here to pirate sea. Cause with charger, I give 10 additional feet. So I've got, um,
[01:25:05] if you use the best act, if I use the dash action. Yeah. So you can do it as a bonus action. Nice. Yep. That's exactly what I was going to do. over 80 feet of movement puts me next to pirate sea. Okay. That is crazy. Um, fuck them up. Yeah. I'm just going to make two attacks. Fuck them up. First one is a 17 to hit. Uh, 17 does hit except. Vroom. A hand goes up and she cash shield. Okay.
[01:25:35] Second one is 23 to hit. 23 hits. Okay. Uh, let me roll that. Woo. Good rolls. Good rolls. Okay. So those are my offhand. So I'm not adding my modifier here, but that is in 18 slashing.
[01:26:07] 18 slashing on that second hit. And I believe I still have, well, they may have it. I believe I still have 10 feet of movement. So I will get right here. That door is potentially still locked. She used the window. Wait, metagaming. I'm so sorry. No, you're good. Cause you weren't in there. You didn't, I'm going to stay there. Cause it, it gives me,
[01:26:37] I think a better position. Okay. Okay. Phalen. Uh, you came in here, you helped Will, you gave him sanctuary and he immediately left. Abandoned the navigator again. Nobody cares about me. And she's going to flip fly over. The fire that she threw was in this corner, right? Uh, it's in this, like a,
[01:27:06] you see where there's the two like wooden boxes over there, which to me, I was using as like cabinets and things that she could rifle through. Those two things. Yeah. They're starting, there's a fire starting to spread there. Uh, a very big one yet, or is it just like slowly catching? Uh, it's the first initial. So it's not like basically both cabinets are starting to catch fire, but it's at the bottom. Um, I actually have no idea how this works,
[01:27:34] but will Rhea Frost affect the fire? I like the idea. I think you can just, I mean, it depends on, on how you want to do it. I think you can just use the action to put out alchemist fire. If you'd like, I don't know if that disrupts anything with your investigation or how that works with your character. If you can do bonus action on that. Um, I can't do bonus action for Rhea Frost for sure. For, for investigating. Like if you, if you wanted to,
[01:28:04] sorry, I'm not trying to metagame, but like if you, if you wanted to use, I don't know of, of anyone using Rhea Frost, that's going to be your decision, but you can, if you're just trying to put the fire out, you have the option to just use your action with alchemist fire to put fire out. Okay. Yeah. I mean, absolutely. I'll do that. I didn't realize that was just something I could do. Yeah. Cause if it lights yourself on fire, you can choose to use it. So that's how I'm applying the rules there.
[01:28:34] And you can correct me if you don't agree with that. But if you get lit on fire with alchemist fire, the choice is to put yourself out by using your action. So I would assume that would work on another item as well. Especially because not like a full round has passed. Since she's done it. So I haven't really had a chance to spread too much. So consider gets it still in the same round, I think, or like it, she started it. It hasn't hit her turn again. So it's not spread to think about. Yeah. Okay. Then instead of trying to do something cool with Rhea Frost,
[01:29:03] I think I will just, uh, immediately fly in, flop down and start stomping with my little feet, padding with my hands. And then like a gust of wind with my wings as I'm trying to put out the fire. Okay. Yeah. You use your action to rank it all back down to embers. And so what was the beginning of a fire is now just charcoal brick remains and some singed heat. Fantastic. You can go ahead and take that away. Stop the spread of the fire. Yeah.
[01:29:33] And, uh, as my bonus action, can I try to look at the boxes and the shelves and see if I notice anything that is interesting? Like, why would they be searching through these things? Because obviously they didn't find it or they wouldn't be trying to destroy it. Right? Right. Yeah. Uh, let's see. It was your action to snuff it out. So you are there and he can't do that this turn, but that's not a bad idea.
[01:30:03] Next turn. All right. Yellow has a choice to make. And I am just going to kind of see her. Just make an intelligence check to see if she was going to Leroy Jenkins this. She rolled really low. So she is. Shit. So she is going to five, 10, 15. If she can get out of it.
[01:30:32] How much damage do you do to her? 10 damage. 10 damage. The health potion she drank behind the wall saved her ass. Because she looks like she is on death's door as she lets them scratch and hit. And then, action dash. Shit. Dang it.
[01:31:03] It's all right, guys. And she's going to hop over that little window. As she passes by, you can kind of see her tap cyan on the back. And then she sprints away. A yellow streak in the darkened room. Ugh. Chaps out. Tal, I do just want to say, you would have absolutely killed her had she not taken the healing potion.
[01:31:31] And that is the thing she grabbed from cyan before she turned the corner. Damn. Very much so, you definitely would have killed her. It's all right. We can still keep up. We got this, guys. Guys, she's just outside. You can still murder her. We still got this. She's still got this. Do we want to kill her, though? No, no, we just need one. We just need one knocked out for questions. You know that cyan has one less healing potion. That's true. That's very true. And if we knock out more, we know we can get healing potions from them. So.
[01:32:02] Uh, fantastic. Okay. So that is, uh, uh, her turn now. It's magenta. Uh, y'all can't see magenta. So no metagaming when I move her. Mm-hmm. For the podcast listeners, the, uh, magenta pirate is moving towards the back of the house currently, but none of our players are, are metagaming in this in any way. And our characters are completely unaware.
[01:32:30] Completely anywhere of exactly where the magenta pirate has gone. Uh, okay. Fantastic. That is her turn. So now we have cyan. Great. Cyan, uh, starting to look a little nervous. She is going to look at you, Will, and go, honest, honestly,
[01:32:59] why are we fighting? Really? When you think about it, just, you know, where does this idea come from? Within, you know, it just, it feels like we could just sit down and talk about this. You hit first. I didn't hit first. You totally hit first. You snuck up behind her and we were all creepy. And asked what was going on.
[01:33:26] You asked what was going on while we were doing illegal shit. You knew we're doing illegal shit in here. As a person who does illegal shit, who does that? Really? Who stabs someone immediately? Are you telling me? As professional courtesy. How do we know you're a professional when we don't know who you are because you're behind us? Because I snuck up behind you, my dear. She hesitates for a second. Point made. And she like tilts her head a little bit and she goes, yeah, okay.
[01:33:56] She says fair point. All right. Can we, can we stop fighting now? Or do we, are we going to keep fighting? Sincerely, from the bottom of my heart, I'm not trying to kill you. Look me in the eyes and say it again without smiling. I'll lick my lips. Ew. Force a straight face. I'm not trying to kill you. Roll me deception. Okay. Roll me persuasion or deception. Your choice.
[01:34:29] A 15. Oh, that is a 15. Which kind? Persuasion or deception? You have to tell me because she's a bitch. Yeah, she's the DM. You have to tell her legally. Deception. Deception. She goes, you were so full of shit. You were absolutely full of shit. Look, look, if we all agree to stop fighting and talk about this and regroup a little, can we stop trying to kill each other?
[01:35:01] Sounds good to me. Yeah, I'll put both swords down into their sheaths. Okay, I'm going to step back and if you attack me when I, when I put a little breathing room between us because you're a little too close, my sister's going to beat the shit out of you, okay? No. Sure. She's going to take one step back, another, another until she's fully out of range and then she's going to another whistle. All right.
[01:35:31] If no one else is going to attack or doing anything, we can technically come out of turn order, but we can still play on this map where people are. Yes, wonderful. I do not enjoy talking and Phelan will continue
[01:36:01] rifling through the shelves and boxes and throwing papers everywhere to look for whatever the hell they were looking for. Well, I must say that escalated much further than I was expecting. Really got out of hand fast. I am a simple man asking simple questions. Like, what the hell is wrong with that mayor? No. Corduroy? Silk?
[01:36:31] Tal will make his way fully in the room now, you know, with Will as well. I mean, if children are going missing, I personally would be investigating the person pairing silk with corduroy. Am I delusional here? It definitely isn't hip right now, man. I got to say it's not in. I'll like lean down to like my my jacket that I've hand sewn
[01:37:00] and I'm like, I just I couldn't imagine in any scenarios I kind of fix my my cuffs. I couldn't imagine any scenario where that could possibly be okay. Hey guys, look, we don't want any problems, man. We see that y'all are some some well-respected pirates. Not gonna not gonna flex ourselves very much, but you know, of the same cloth. So you've just completely dumped the grandpa facade. Yes. I mean, at this point, I've been playing magic
[01:37:29] and throwing up magical. You still look like you don't know. You could be a magical grandpa. I folded right away. So right away. So young voice Tal comes out of still old looking man, but your disguise is still yes. Okay, cool. Just checking. Yeah. I'm gonna stop and saying which version of them is saying something just because to me it's oh, I'm losing my mind trying to switch between them a little bit.
[01:37:59] But just imagine that it's almost like the George Weasley Fred Weasley thing of them just switching back and forth and kind of filling each other's blanks and stuff like that. Oh, okay. First of all, who are you? Because you can look at us and you can tell who we are, right? No brand recognition with any of you. You're definitely not Scarab. Okay, I can see that outright. Definitely not.
[01:38:30] No, no way you're painted. Okay, so as I mentioned before, I am John. Yeah, yeah. And these are my compatriots. John. Hmm. He is 100% John. He's 100% John without a without a without a shadow of a doubt. Not introducing yourself at all. You're just like, yeah, he is totally who he says he is.
[01:39:01] Yeah, the one who knocked you out goes, yeah, and let me guess, you're totally Otis. Exactly. Mm-hmm. Didn't I hear you talk to the barmaid and say that you were David? I am one of many names. I go by with the sea where the sea guides me. This is just upsetting on many levels. I don't I don't okay, so the bird is yours as
[01:39:31] well. Uh, the bird is her own. I think arguably we more belong to her. I think that's the first true thing you said all day, and I still think half of it's a lie. So why are we poking around the mayor's house? Like you say, he's creepy as fuck. And we may have a job here. Oh, dear.
[01:40:00] Does your job have anything to do with children disappearing in the woods? No, actually, I was going to say, what the fuck are you talking about? Apparently it's a normal part of their town meeting. That's weird. Certainly what I thought. And it immediately thought, this guy's off. Yeah, he's, hmm. I don't like the look at him. Something's wrong. Something's wrong there. And did I see that the furniture is a bit destroyed?
[01:40:32] Yeah, yeah, we weren't, okay, we didn't really get to look. Can we do, okay, let's just go maybe sitting about looking through, what do we do? Boss is going to be so mad. And they start talking amongst themselves a little bit. If I, if I may, we help you find whatever you are looking for and you forget our faces.
[01:41:02] Sorry, it was the immediate turn of, ah! Okay, how about this? We all search the house for whatever we fucking like. We all take whatever we want from it. We don't steal from each other if we happen to find something that the other likes. And
[01:41:33] maybe you got a health potion. I do. And towel kind of hold it out, kind of flaunting it. Okay. And I'll immediately put it back away. Since you cut up my sister, how about you hand that over and I don't make you bleed the same? Hey, man, y'all punched me first, to be completely fair. The one who punches goes, hey,
[01:42:03] to be really fair, you folded real fast. Hey, man, it's all part of the facade. It's all part of the facade, as you can see, clearly only partially scathed. I would certainly say that as well. Only partially scathed. How about we say in the interest of good faith and you know, maybe this continued, you know, kind of good, good natured thing going forward. I give you this,
[01:42:32] but if you think you're going to bleed us at any point, I think you're sorely mistaken about how that interaction would go down and he's going to place it on the table. She's going to yoink it, throw it without looking, and her other sister, the one who's hurt, catches it and just knocks it back immediately. And she goes, boom, you are more than welcome to think that. All right. I'm going to message Tao and just under my breath go,
[01:43:04] was that our last health potion? Tao. It's fine. You got played, son. Okay, so we'll look on this side, this room, maybe the other room. You can take that room over there. She's pointing at the one they first came in, the one that they started setting on fire.
[01:43:35] And if you find anything you don't want, maybe we trade for it, maybe buy it from you. If we want it. Same goes if we even find something we don't want that you might like. This, we've only been here for a little while, these town meetings, they usually last about 30 minutes. So they've been in there for a little while, we don't have long, so let's meet up,
[01:44:07] not in here, let's not take too long. Wonderful. Yeah. Let's begin. Oh, as I just kind of look over to Phelan. I'm still in the other room rummaging, papers flying everywhere, a few glass things. Oh, I forgot you're in the other room, aren't you? Yeah, I am scavenging for whatever they were trying to light on fire. Absolutely. Um, uh, what, how much is the healing potion? 1d4 plus, uh, 2d4 plus 2. 2d4 plus 2. Okay.
[01:44:38] Yeah, it's fine. We'll buy another one before we leave down. With what gold? I have some gold. We're good. Freaking royalty. Okay. You could settle his bounty and get some more gold. That's true. Yeah, I thought about that. We could always like turn, turn me into my folks for, for the bounty and then y'all could, we don't know who the bounties, I think it's not technically to your, your
[01:45:07] individuals though. Telling you, man, while we're kind of rummaging through shit, are you guys, are you guys mumbling this idea while we're like rummaging through all the stuff in the other room? I'm telling you, man, it's a full full proof plan. I mean, we've been scaling by like just, you know, stealing food like, dude, we could, we could live, we could live well, man, we could live well. I'm telling you, 100% of my dad set that bounty, 100% he'd pay every penny of it without batting an eyelash.
[01:45:39] Plus, it gives us an opportunity to go check out what's going on. You know, something's happening with my, with my, with my brother, you know, he's a homie, man. He was in full support of me getting out of there. I'm not listening to him. I'm just wanting to get the investigation done and praying that no one else is hearing him talk about a bounty. Oh my god, yeah. Yeah, how loud are you being, Tal, when you're talking to your bro like this? And let's just be clear, where are you guys? So, which room are you looking in? They said the other room. So, I know Phelan's been tearing apart this room for a while, so I'd say
[01:46:09] I probably went in here. Okay, Magenta's also gonna come in here. Oh, I thought she said that they were gonna look in the other room. They said they were gonna look in these two rooms because, of course, they weren't gonna... Basically, what she said is we'll take two-thirds of the house, you take the one-third we've already looked through, but if you walk in here with her, she's not gonna say anything. Cool. Y'all are just both kind of taking over a certain part of the room while these two look in here. Fine, yeah, then in that case, then, yeah, if Will wants to stay over there, we'll forego
[01:46:39] that conversation or say it happened all the way. Y'all can say it as you're walking out and mumble it if you want. Will's not engaged in this conversation at all. Tal, how much do you want to talk about your bounty in front of the three pirates? Not at all. Ignore everything I've said. We split up in the hallway and, yeah, I definitely want to make sure that we cover as much of the house as possible. So I will 100% be in here with her. Fantastic. All right. Everybody, and Phelan, you've been especially patient. Everybody go ahead and give me investigations if you are simply
[01:47:09] just tearing through the room looking for stuff because you're going a little bit fast because you're trying to take too long, but go ahead and roll me either perception or investigation perception if you were trying to spot where you think would be the best place to look investigation if you were just going section by section. And as I'm like leaving quickly leaving the room, I quickly play a couple of notes and give Will some bardic as we split. Phelan has 22. 22. Okay. Oh, that was almost an
[01:47:39] 18 and then it rolled back to a nine. Oh, uh, that is a nine plus 14, 13. Okay. 13. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Let's just roll for these guys. Fantastic. Um, Tal, you spot it as you're kind of clearing out both sections
[01:48:08] of this room. You start to realize this looks like where the old uh, uh, like town hall meetings would probably have been held. This looks like a conference room kind of deal. Like there's one long table in the middle, chairs everywhere, and there just seems to be a couple cabinets in places, but the more you look, the less lived in this place seems. It doesn't look like a place that's seen any sort of communal social interaction,
[01:48:38] and everything starts to kind of look like it's a little waterlogged almost, a little decaying. It's almost like an abandoned place, but near the beginning of it being abandoned? It's a little weird, uh, because if this is the mayor's place now, and it used to be the town hall, why does it look like no one's been here for a very long time? No one's been taking care of this place. Um, but you do see, uh, uh,
[01:49:08] in this mess and mix, there is a small piece of paper that looks kind of ripped on one edge. You have just enough wherewithal that you can attempt to take it. 100%. Go ahead and make me a sleight of hand check to see if you can get away with grabbing it because her thing was just a little bit lower. So I'm giving you a chance to get it before she does. That is good, actually. That is 24. 24.
[01:49:38] You spot it, you swipe it, and your sleeve smears the dust so that a little blank spot is not left behind as you can tuck that away real quick. Nice. Uh, as she looks around, notices you kind of moving a bit and then just goes, no, hey, the shit, shit, shit, shit, shit. And she will start to make her way out to regroup with the rest of the girls. Phelan, you said 24? 22. 22. Well, then you don't find them.
[01:50:09] you're looking through, you're not sure why they started to set fire to this, because there's quite a few little bits and bobs and ends that you might want to take along, just like a couple screws in places that seem like they're a good deal, little storage things. You do find, oddly enough, what seems to be purely intact is a very nice looking seashell. It spirals, it's shiny, there's no chips or dents in it that you can see,
[01:50:39] and while it wasn't like on display, it looks like something that might have been displayed once upon a time on the cabinet, but it's just kind of tucked away. That's the only thing of interest? That's the only thing you find there. Okay. Phelan flips it back and forth, blows on it a little bit, tucks it into a pocket in the front of her little vest, and then pops back up on Will's shoulders and looks over, what did you find in here? Because I found diddly shit. What did you find,
[01:51:09] Will? I would like to not investigate. Fantastic. Use one of my last charges to message as I just walk straight to the door. Mm-hmm. And I will, on the way past, message Tao. We're not reconvening. We're leaving. I don't trust them. Okay.
[01:51:40] Tao? You hear that? Tao getting that message and seeing, you know, that the pirate has left me alone and kind of left the front half of the house completely empty, I'm going to, you know, casually make my way over to Phelan. Phelan is on Will's shoulders now. Oh, so y'all both are like dipped out of the house then? Yeah, he's walking out with me on his shoulders. Okay. In that case then, yeah, if y'all are both just going out the front door then yeah,
[01:52:09] I'm right there with y'all. The moment we step out the door, I am booking it back towards Town Hall. Fantastic. Oh, I love that. Okay. All right. Y'all walk out the door, you start booking it to Town Hall. Phelan, your talents can be
[01:52:39] either in him as you hold on for dear life or you can lift off and fall at a distance. Tal, Will is booking it. I am going to seems like a little bit of a waste, but given that I just had found something that they definitely wanted, I will peek back around, make sure that nobody can visually see me or I'll step away to where nobody can visually see me and I'm going to disguise self to look like a completely different villager, possibly like somebody younger, maybe like a
[01:53:09] younger woman and then I will just kind of walk back through town, like trying to be as nonchalant as possible to make it back to the Town Hall. Okay, yeah, yeah, you try and just blend in, you have on the same kind of illusory, illusory wise, you have the same kind of brown cloak that most people have on, a little bit of tan, kind of just traveling cloak. look, you can describe how she looks at any time if you'd like, but as of right now,
[01:53:38] she's just a young lady walking down. So I'll just say that she is like a tanned human woman, I'd say like shoulder length brown hair, just, you know, as normal as the day is long and I will just kind of casually try and blend in with the crowds as we walk back to town. Um, okay, so you're trying to trail along, you're trying to keep them in your sights, they're a little bit farther ahead but you're still walking up. Will, with you speeding down this way, Phelan,
[01:54:08] actually real quick, so he takes off sprinting which she doesn't expect and for a second she, the wind flops her back with her wings spread back and then she tucks them in, ducks down, nuzzles underneath his collar and chin and then just like huddles there with while they sprint forward. Awesome. Awesome, awesome, awesome. Uh, well, uh, as you run back to where you think the tavern is, uh,
[01:54:37] you turn the corner and join the crowd of gawkers as they sit and watch the tavern burn. It is on fire. Uh, and that is where we will end this episode.
