Let's Get Critical's first Campaign: The Static Between Worlds

Welcome to Eldritch Falls, where mixtapes are sacred, tea might be cursed, and the weirdness doesn’t just walk—it kicks down your door.

In Episode 1: “Take the Day by the Horns”, we’re not diving into combat or dungeons just yet. Think of this as a Session 0 with cinematic flair—an introduction to the teens at the heart of The Static Between Worlds, the chaotic families they come from, and the supernatural static that’s about to flip their lives upside down.

If you like Stranger Things, Gravity Falls, or tabletop RPGs where the drama hits as hard as the dice, this is your moment to plug in.

🌆 The World

Set in a retro-magical version of the 1980s, Eldritch Falls is a small town with a massive secret. Magic used to run wild here—but then came the Severance, a mysterious global event that cut people off from magic. Now the VANTH Energy Facility is harnessing that leftover power, but something’s… off.

This episode introduces the main cast as they face a typical teen crisis: surviving the first day of school. Until it’s not typical anymore.

🎭 The Main Characters

Each teen brings their own flavor of weird:

  • Cassandra – A withdrawn dreamer haunted by visions of blood-red skies and slitted eyes. She's new in town and already in over her head.

  • Madonna Everfield – Punk to the core, armed with eyeliner, attitude, and an electric guitar. School might be hell, but she's bringing the fire.

  • Jimmy Everfield – Madonna’s type-A brother with a binder for everything. He's awkward, earnest, and—spoiler—possibly a lion now.

  • Sienna – A halfling raised by her doomsday-prepper aunt in a teacup-shaped shack.

🌀 What Happens in the Episode?

  • The teens survive awkward family breakfasts, dodge deranged classmates, and get manipulated into attending a fake party on the pier.

  • Just as humiliation peaks, a beam of white light erupts from the VANTH plant—blasting them with strange energy.

  • Each teen experiences a personal awakening, unlocking bizarre new powers, magical items, or surreal visions.

  • The episode ends with all four of them standing at the edge of something far bigger than they understand.

🎸 Why You Should Listen

This isn’t your average dungeon crawl. The Static Between Worlds blends 80s teen drama, arcane mystery, and D&D storytelling with heart, humor, and horror. If you've ever wanted Stranger Things and Gravity Falls to get hit by a magical EMP, this is the show for you.
